Background:
Stanground St John's is a Church of England voluntary controlled primary school that caters for children between the ages of four and 11. It serves Stanground Village and parts of Fletton. Founded in 1900, the original building was extended about 50 years ago and has recently had a major refurbishment. It now comprises of six classrooms, a library, and ICT suite, hall, two group rooms, medical room, staff room and kitchen. There are two playgrounds, a large field, enclosed environmental area and an outdoor learner swimming pool. There is a mobile classroom that houses the St John's preparatory school. Children experience the use of instruments and the process of making music in their classroom work. At Christmas time the school choir visit the local old people's homes to entertain with carols and seasonal songs. The school has football and netball teams, which play against other local schools. The school aims to serve its community by providing an education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice.
