Background:
The school'serves the village of Little Thetford on the edge of the Fens, but some pupils also come from Ely and other villages. It is housed in a Victorian building, which opened in 1870 in addition to which a new building was completed in 1998. As a Church of England school it enjoys 'close links' with the parish church. A 'good range' of extra-curricular activities is 'very popular' with the pupils. Music is'strength' of the school and there are 'particular strengths' in the choir, recorder and percussion groups. The Young Engineers initiative is another 'key' activity. Team games are also played and pupils have opportunities to compete against other schools. The Friends of the School raise funds to help keep the school 'well resourced'. The school believes in the ethos that the partnership of community, school and home is 'absolutely necessary' for real and effective education.
