Background:

Teversham Church of England Aided Primary School is situated in the village of Teversham on the outskirts of Cambridge. The school is co-educational and has seven classes for children aged from four to 11 years. The original school building was opened in 1861. Since then, the school has grown and adapted to meet the demands of the community and the curriculum. Its most recent extension was opened in June 2003. The school provides a range of after-school clubs, which are arranged by outside agencies including football, French, dance and tennis clubs. The playgroup is run independently and is based in a mobile classroom on the school site. To enhance the curriculum the school organises events such as educational visits to places of specific interest, visits from theatre groups, dance days, history days and visits from experts. The school has been awarded Investor in People status in 2001 and 2004, the Basic Skills Quality Mark in 1998, 2001 and 2004, a DfES achievement award in 2002 and the Charter mark in 2003. The school aims to serve its community by providing an education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice. It encourages an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith and promotes Christian values through the experiences it offers to all its pupils.
