Background:
Opened in 1963 in 'spacious landscaped grounds' in the heart of the village of Cottenham, the college has 'excellent' facilities and is 'well-equipped to provide quality education' for its pupils. It places emphasis on mutual respect as the key to good relationships and is 'especially keen' on maintaining close links with parents. In 1994 a language centre was opened to better cater for those hearing and language impaired students who benefit from experience gained during the college's 20 years experience in this field. The support of the centre 'exemplifies the policy of inclusion and access that characterises the ethos of the entire college'. Cottenham Village College 'encourages children to participate in the wealth of extra-curricular opportunities to ensure their talents are developed as fully as possible while teaching them social skills and co-operation with others. The school has achieved the following awards: Sportsmark Gold and Artsmark Gold. The school aims to provide an environment where students feels secure, happy an able to develop their abilities to the full.
