Background:

Stanground College is currently a group eight co-educational, foundation secondary specialist sports college serving 1650 pupils aged 11-18 years from Stanground, Farcet and Yaxley areas. The college is well resourced with nearly 350 networked personal computers throughout the college. There are thirteen computers suites of at least 15 personal computers in mathematics, English, humanities, physical education, music, technology, information technology, business studies, modern foreign languages as well as a further 15 in the successmaker suite and 10 in the resource centre. Students use computers in each of these areas, an integral part of their learning, and the network, especially devised for educational use, allows the student to access all relevant software, and their own work, wherever they may be working on a computer. The college has a wide range of clubs and activities including basketball, badminton, swimming, rugby, hockey, science club, choir, table tennis, cross-country, netball, rounders and drama club. The school has achieved the following awards: Basic Skills Quality Mark, Artsmark Gold, Investor in People status. The college aims to be a community where all students are helped to develop the opportunity to improve their skills and creativity in the use of tools and materials.
