Background:

Upwood School was built upon its present site in 1960, moving from its original location in the centre of the village of Upwood. The building provides generous accommodation that includes large teaching areas all with their own practical workplaces; a large hall and separate dining room, library, reading areas and school offices. The children are introduced to mathematics through a variety of practical activities. All the children are involved in the activities of singing, playing percussion and wind instruments, listening to and creating music. Drama gives children a valuable opportunity to explore ideas creatively and imaginatively. The school offers a number of extra-curricular activities at school. These may include orchestra, recorder, science, football, drama, chess, clay and environmental clubs. The range of activities varies each year depending upon staff expertise.
