Background:

Ken Stimpson Community School was opened in 1982 and is situated in Werrington, Peterborough. The school is a single site school which is endowed with superb facilities, some of which are shared with Werrington District Library and Werrington Sports and Recreation Centre. The school has access to sports facilities: a drama studio, music classrooms and practice spaces, a dance theatre and performance areas all of which would be less likely to be found in a more traditional school. In addition to the well equipped and resourced teaching blocks it has a two-court, floodlit astroturf and extensive playing fields. Extension to its facilities includes a new Post 16 science lab in the science garden area and five purpose-built computer suites containing upto date information and communication technology equipment. The school has a wide range of extra-curricular activities: athletics, badminton, band, basketball, chess, choir, cricket, cross-country, dance and drama. The school recognises the importance of its partnership with parents and the local community in promoting values of respect and responsibility. The school aims to create a welcoming atmosphere in which parents are encouraged to take shared responsibility for their child's education.
