Background:
Set in a residential area to the north of Cambridge, separate girls' and boys' schools were established on the site in 1935 and amalgamated in 1972. It was re-organised into a comprehensive in September 1974. In 1992 a new information technology suite and music block were built. The latest addition is a three million pound sports and leisure facility due to open in Sept 2004. The College runs an extra curicular programme in P.E , Music and the Arts. Construction is currently underway to provide a new dance and drama studio. Chesterton Community College is a truly comprehensive college, that provides for the needs of it's pupils and the wider community. We also run twilight/evening programmes for younger children and adults, and summer schools. The new sports and leisure facility is open to the public, with fitness suite, pool, four court sports hall, extensive outdoor pitches, floodlit tennis courts, function rooms and creche. Future additions to this facility include a health suite and an astroturf pitch.
