Background:
Alderman Jacobs Primary School is the largest primary in Cambridgeshire. Its extensive, landscaped grounds include gardens, an adventure playground, quiet sitting areas and a 25-metre swimming pool. Parents, pupils and staff have worked together to create wildlife and environmental areas. The curriculum provides a strong, positive foundation for each child's education, with work matched to the needs of individuals. The range of extra-curricular activities offered is vast and older children participate in residential visits. Many pupils learn the violin, clarinet and recorders. The strong parent-teacher-friends association raises funds for the school and organises enjoyable social events. The school is involved with the community in several ways through links with businesses, Churches and sports clubs, and through pupils' visits to residential homes for the elderly. Pupils support a chosen charity every year. The school aims to offer a happy, safe and secure environment in a family atmosphere.
