Background:

The school was founded in 1845, thanks to a donation from Lady Olivia Bernard Sparrow, who continued to support the school for several years. After transferring to its present site in 1971, a major programme of redevelopment took place in 1993, resulting in seven classrooms, main hall, resources hall and atrium in addition to administrative and kitchen facilities; two additional classrooms and redevelopment of administrative area in 2003. School set on edge of village, which borders the Cambridgeshire Fen. Over-subscribed. Full national curriculum 'augmented by many other opportunities'; links with schools in France, United States, South America and Africa. Key Stage 2 pupils have opportunity to learn French; also programmes for more able pupils; dramatic and musical productions, visits and visitors, and other extra-curricular activities. Success in football, netball, golf, cricket, chess, athletics, cycling, swimming and life-saving. Strong links with parents and local community, from playgroup to residential homes for the elderly.
