Background:

Crosshall Junior opened in September 1974 and became a foundation school in September 1999. It is housed in an open-plan building with a 'well equipped' hall, drama hall, library, computer and resource room, mobile science and design technology room and a music room. Outdoor facilities include a football pitch, two five-a-side pitches, adventure play area, netball court and an environmental wild life area. Each class has 'at least one computer' and information technology is used in all areas of the curriculum. The school has a 'strong tradition of academic excellence and sporting success' with 'wide range' of extra-curricular activities including sport, first aid, dance, art and environmental. The performing arts are a 'strong feature of school life', with annual Shakespearian productions. Residential trips are available to all year groups, including a three-night stay in Touquet, France. The school has an 'active' Parent-Teacher Association which organises regular social events for both children and adults.
